Jennifer Salisbury Sings Audioslave

For me, jazz is about connection — that gut-punch of feeling when music cuts straight through you. And when I hear Chris Cornell sing, it’s the same. His voice has that raw, aching intensity that hits you right in the chest.

It’s a thrill to bring these powerful songs to life at the Paris Cat Jazz Club, Friday June 20th at 9pm.

Expect an electrifying set of Audioslave anthems — Light My Way, Like a Stone, and many more — delivered with all the fire and fury they deserve. It’s a tribute to the raw power of the originals, with just a touch of jazz woven through the cracks.

Jennifer Salisbury and Mark Morand are one of Australia’s hardest-working jazz partnerships, currently touring eight different shows across Victoria. Paris Cat audiences will know them from Anything Goes: The Songs of Cole Porter, 32 Bars, and Our Favourite Things.

Now, they’re stepping into new territory. With Jennifer’s powerhouse vocals and Mark’s inventive arrangements, they take on Audioslave’s explosive catalogue, backed by two of Melbourne’s finest: Niko Schauble on drums and Annette Yates on double bass. Together, this formidable quartet stays true to the grit and soul of Audioslave, while adding a few unexpected twists along the way.

Set against the red velvet backdrop of Paris Cat, with candlelight and close-up energy, this promises to be a night of raw connection and musical fire.
